The events at the end of the game have lasting consequences throughout the following Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, and Metroid Dread. The remote planet is infested with hostile alien creatures and deadly robots known as E.M.M.I. After discovering a mysterious transmission on Planet ZDR, Samus confronts an unknown adversary who traps her on this perilous world.
